How the 44 days ended

The agreement of 10 November, the peacekeepers and the new status of Karabakh — the outcomes of the Patriotic War.

Outcomes

The trilateral statement

The war ended with a trilateral statement signed in the early hours of 10 November 2020 by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia. The document set out a complete ceasefire, the transfer of a number of territories under Azerbaijani control and the deployment of a Russian peacekeeping contingent to the conflict zone.

Russian peacekeepers (around two thousand personnel) were stationed along the line of contact and in the Lachin corridor — initially for a term of five years. For Azerbaijan, the war meant the restoration of control over the lands lost in the 1990s.
